The peak is called Minapin as well as Diran. It is situated in Rakaposhi and Haramosh mountain region near the Minapin, Hinarchi and Baultar glaciers and is easily accessible because of the Karakoram Highway.
There is confusion about its height but now all agree that it is 7,273m/23,861ft. high. It is one of the fascinating peaks that dominates the Gilgit valley and adds special colour to its otherwise rugged beauty.
It offers a panoramic view to the Hunza valley. Accessible from Gilgit on KKH to minapin-Gultens-Hapakum- B.Camp. to the pasture land on a beautiful meadow with Extra ordinary view for the green land of Nagar valley, the downhill of villages gives the picture seek view of agricultural fields orchard. 1968 the three member of Austrian Expedition attempted Diran, and they have got on the summit successful. They found Hidden crevasses and high snow Domes on the Northwest ridge.
In 1964 another Austrian Expedition tried to get on the summit from Northwest face, they couldnt succeeded, the bad weather affect them, no injuries has happened.
