Exploring two faces of Nanga Parbat & Deosai plateau Jeep Safari.A local name of Nanga Parbat is Diamir, which means “The king of mountains. The meaning of Nanga Parbat is “Naked Mountain”. However, it has other names like killer mount & the
mountain of Germans.
This peak was discovered in nineteenth century but was climbed by legendary mountaineer Hermann Buhl. Many climbers have sacrificed their lives to conquer this peak among them Germans climbers are on the top. This is the highest peak in the extreme western Himalayas. A challenging peak having three vast faces; Diamir Face, Riakot Face & Rupal Face. The Rupal Face is considered to be the highest precipice in the World.
This trek is designed to reach two base camps of Nanga Parbat for a close look. First to Riakot Face from Fairy Meadows. Fairy Meadows is a high altitude pasture surrounded by thick forest of pine trees & followers. It has outstanding beauty. The view of Nanga Parbat from here is beyond description. After completion of a rewarding trek at Riakot Face of Nanga Parbat, the next step is towards Rupal face in Astor Valley. Rupal face of Nanga Parbat is the difficult route to reach summit. However, our goal is to reach base camp which can be done by any physically fit person. After coming back to Trashing, our journey will continue towards Deosai Plateau.
The Deosai plateau is clasped between the western massif of the Himalayas and the central Karakoram. It covers an area of 7200 square kilometers, with an average height of 4000 meters and is a hidden paradise for lovers of nature.
On the high plateau we find very special plants and flowers. The plain is dotted with Edelweiss, in the Alps a protected flower. Between this almost exotic flora live bears, marmots and even the snow leopard. This 'slow-motion hike' follows the route through the western part of the Nanga Parbat area to the high plateau. During the descent to Skardu we enjoy the splendid views of the western Himalayas. A fine hike 'for all ages.
